Does this keep the line breaks between captions?
By default each caption becomes one line, so you keep a sense of the original pacing. There is also a paragraph option that joins everything into one continuous block of text, which is handy when you want to read or edit it as prose.
Is this the same as transcribing my video?
No. This tool only reformats a caption file you already have: it needs an existing SRT or VTT. If you have a video or audio recording but no captions yet, you need transcription first to create the caption or transcript file.
Will the text be perfectly punctuated?
The text is exactly what was in your caption file, minus the timing. Caption text is often broken across lines for on-screen reading rather than for grammar, so you may want to tidy line breaks and punctuation after stripping the timestamps.
